Frequently Asked Questions

Q - Why do you photograph in the studio?

A - Many reasons!

  • Your pet is safe and secure in our studio

  • There are less distractions in the studio, so I can get and keep your pets full attention, which means I can really capture their spirit for the camera. For example, we aren’t at the beach or dog park with lots of other animals trying to get in on the act!

  • Our sessions can’t be ruined by the weather! It never rains in our studio and the light is always PURRFECT!

Q - How long do photo sessions last?

A - That is in part up to your pet!

  • We generally allow two hours; but sometimes we finish sooner, sometimes we need more time

  • Most animals settle straight in to the studio, but more shy animals might need more time

  • Young pups can get tired very quickly and have a shorter attention span, I work more quickly with these animals

  • We will be able to give you a better idea for your fur kids after we have had a chat. However long it lasts, the price is the same.

Q - Can I be in a photo too?

A - Yes! But we need to know in advance so we can plan your session. We can have a good chat about what you want when we talk.

Q - How many animals can be in the session?

A - How many do you want? Seriously, we will agree all these details when we have our planning chat, as this will depend on;

  • What photos you want

  • What sort of animals they are (cats and dogs don’t usually mix well in the studio for example, but it is up to the individual animals)

  • How well they get on

Q - My dog is very lively / not well trained / won’t sit still

A - They sound fun and full of personality! And you aren’t alone with this question, it is our most asked. I have photographed over 15,000 dogs and have met lots of lively pups, and the experience I have will mean we will get some great shots of them. I can and frequently do photograph animals on the move. as its a huge part of who they are. When we have (some) energy taken away, I will get the less bouncy shots.

Q - My dog is shy and doesn’t take to strangers

A - I have had a pup like this, and have met and photographed hundreds of animals who are the same. I will take my time to build trust with your pet, before I even try and start photography. Patience is key in these situations, as well as a thorough understanding of animal behaviour and body language. I will be communicating trust signals to your pet as soon as I meet them, you might not even notice me doing this as it can be very subtle, and your pup will let me know when they are comfortable with me, the studio and the equipment, and then we start taking photos.

Q - Do you just photograph dogs, or can I bring my cat / bird / reptile / guinea pig for a session?

A - I photograph ALL animals and love doing so! Over the years I have studio photographed dogs, cats, snakes, parrots, mice, rats, sugar gliders, wallabies, koalas, sheep, cows, even a pet cockroach! Check out our Wildlife gallery for some examples. Get in touch and lets have a chat about it, so long as your pet can be kept safe and happy, and I can stay safe (i.e. a tiger would take special arrangements!) we can photograph your pets.

Q - I have other questions.

A - Contact Us and we can chat about it!

Q - Sounds great! How do I book?

A - Just get in touch and we can get it all arranged!
